This is the approximate location of Fannie Burgess Gorringe’s home in Marion. Her obituary read as follows: Special Correspondence: Marion, Idaho, Jan 13, Fannie B. Gorringe died here of old age on 20 Dec 1908. She was the daughter of Joseph and Janet (Martha Jarrett) Burgess born 27 Jan 1829, in Battle, Sussex, England. She with here husband, William Gorringe, joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1855, crossing the plains in Captain Harper’s company. She located in Bountiful, remaining there till 1884, when she moved to this place. When the Relief Society was organized here in 1887, she became its first President, and was released from the position on account of her advanced age in 1894. She was the mother of 15 (16) children and eight survive her. She has 71 grandchildren, 12 being dead, 47 great-grandchildren, seven of whom are dead. Her husband died 16 years ago.
