Since his death in 1857, the location of the gravesite for Benjamin Hewitt Tolman has not been known. But thanks to the research efforts of Dawnine T. Mills Johnson, we have confidence that the previously unmarked grave next to his wife, Sarah Jane Angell is the location of his grave. Based on Dawnine’s findings along with the approval of the Brigham City Cemetery, the Thomas Tolman Family Organization has moved forward with the purchase of a memorial grave marker to properly honor and respect Benjamin and his wife Sarah Jane Angell.
An unveiling of a new memorial headstone is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City Cemetery. There will be a short program and dedication of the grave followed by light refreshments. Copies of Benjamin Hewitt Tolman’s published history will be available for purchased for $20. This hard-bound, 267-page volume provides historical insights for Benjamin, Sarah, and their three children along with other family history gems. All descendants of Benjamin and Sarah are invited to attend.
