Cyrus and his children around 1901 (Standing from left to right: John Albert, Joshua Alvin, Alvaretta Jane, Aaron Alexander, and Judson Isaac; Sitting from left to right: William Augustus, Cyrus Ammon, Minnie Elizabeth, Cyrus, Alice Ann)
John Albert Tolman was the fifth child of Cyrus and Alice Bracken Tolman’s fourteen children. When the stove exploded at Joshua Alvin and Mary Jane Gorringe Tolman’s home on their first evening in Marion, the wounded were moved to John Albert’s home nearby. This is the approximate location of his home as indicated in John Albert’s 1892 Homestead Permit and an 1881 Water Rights document.
